Six Months

On the 30th of every month I look forward to taking pictures of Baby J.  He wears the same thing each time- a white onesie and his month sticker.  I purchased the stickers on Etsy from babycakes design co. for a mere $9 (for 12 months) and they are one of my favorite purchases to date.

Baby J
It has been so much fun watching how he has changed from month to month and the stickers have taken the guess work out of remembering how old he was in the pictures.

Take a Seat

These days I feel like I am always sitting on the hard ground to play with Baby J.  Recently I saw a cute John Robshaw floor pillow that would be perfect for playtime- but the price tag was less than desirable... I came home and began my search for something comfy- here is what I found:
Kids Blue Stackable Cushions at Land of Nod

Glazed Ginger & Porcelain Stripe Floor Cushion | World Market
Glazed Ginger & Porcelain Stripe at World Market

Greendale Home Fashions Zig Zag Pillow at Amazon

Pop Garden Pouf, Little Miss Muffet Tuffet, Floor Pillow, Photo Prop, Handmade in your choice of colors, Removable Cover
Pop Garden Pouf by tickytavy on Etsy
I think all of them are great, depending on how much you want to spend and the look you are going for. My personal favorite, is the last one that I found on Etsy.  So cute and truly one of a kind.

Since having Baby Jackson (almost) 6 months ago, doing errands has become quite a chore. So cheers to my local Whole Foods for expanding their baby and children's selection!  I never really purchase baby products there, but today their Green Sprouts collection caught my eye.  Since Baby J is into solid foods these days, bibs have become the hot item in our home.  I saw the waterproof whale bibs (3 for $9.99) and knew we had to take them home.  I love that I can just wash them in the sink since there is no cotton backing like so many other bibs I see.  Thanks Whole Foods!!

Book Review: Unlovable

Childrens books have a way of teaching us life's most important lessons in such a simple way.  The book Unlovable  by Dan Yaccarino is one of my favorite stories to read to children of all ages.  Rex, the unlovable pug, teaches us the true meaning of friendship and that everyone is lovable just the way they are.  It is sweet and simple and has fun, colorful illustrations- an all around great read!

Ride in Style

Social Circle Blue
Baby Ritzy Rider™ Infant Car Seat Cover in *NEW* Modern Floral & Pink Minky Dot
Modern Pink
At this point I am pretty sure there is something to make everything even cuter in babyland.  I came across this Baby Ritzy Rider Infant Car Seat Cover by Itzy Ritzy today online and I can't stop thinking about it.  I saw a mom with this and I was wondering how she managed to find the cutest car seat in the world- but now I know her secret!  While it is not a necessity by any means- nor inexpensive at $99- I would love to have it to hide my less than cute Graco car seat. Love it.

Pregnant Alessandra Ambrosio Debuts Baby Bump on Runway
Alesandra Ambrosio

I absolutely love that the Victorias Secret model, Alesandra Ambrosio, recently walked the runway 5 months pregnant!   As if she weren't beautiful enough already, she is now even prettier with her bump as she is expecting baby #2.  Work it mama!

Imagination Running Wild

Haba Fantasy Blocks
Lion Hand Puppet

This past Saturday we met my in-laws in Berkeley for lunch and a browse around the 4th Street shops.  January shopping leaves me a bit lack-luster so I was excited when I came across the wonderful childrens store The Ark.  There were so many fun toys and games, I felt like I could have spent all afternoon in there discovering.  The European toys they have were some of my favorites since they are beautifully crafted and often made of wood- which I love.  It was great seeing so many quality toys that would let a childs imagination run wild.  I can't wait to go back.

*All toys shown are sold at The Ark

Zoo and Funny

African Penguin

What do you get when you mix zoo and funny???  Zuny!  Zuny is the company that makes an amazing collection of leather animal bookends.. Their designs are so unique and modern -true collectors pieces.  Even though Baby J's room is beginning to look like a zoo with all of his animals, I'm thinking he will eventually need a Zuny animal to keep the theme going.

Hatley Kids Rain Boot- Nordic Apples
On this rainy day I couldn't help but thinking about the cute rain boot options Baby J has in his future- once he starts walking!  When I got to looking I found that most of the cute and stylish galoshes are for the little ladies out there- no suprise!  I especially love the candy boots from Dylans Candy Bar- they are so stylish and unique! The Nordic Apples boot is for the sweet little girl, the Miss Rainboot for the prim and proper little lady, and the silver- well the silver Pelican Fur boot is for the sassiest of them all!

Time for Bed

Pottery Barn Dahlia Crib Set
Choosing crib bedding is one of the most fun parts of decorating a baby's room- but with so many options out there it can be a little overwhelming.  Falling in love with the bedding first can help set the tone and color scheme of the rest of the room. I love the Annette Tatum  bedding because of the mix of prints and fun colors- it's nice to get away from the standard pink and blue. Rikshaw Designs and Pottery Barn Kids always draw me in with their fun and inspired designs.  Makes me want to redecorate Baby J's room all over again...

Sealed with a Kiss

Visit San Francisco---Folded Note Card
Visit San Francisco Notecard
Circus Birth Announcement
As someone that got married and had a baby in just over a years time, writing thank-you notes has become one of my full-time jobs. I am (and always will be) a fan of a special handwritten note to show someone appreciation. Having gone through tons and tons of store-bought notecards I thought it was finally time to order some custom stationary. I just received my package from the San Franciso- based company Hello Lucky! and I couldn't be happier with my cards!
I love their designs and options for either letterpress or digital printing- not to mention their amazing birth announcements and wedding stationary. All of their things are so special- I wish I would have ordered sooner.

Burn Baby, Burn

Losing weight post-baby is a crazy thing. Regardless of what the scale says, things just aren't quite the same as they used to be. And by "things", I mean my stomach.  I have read about Tracy Anderson in manys blogs and magazines, and she always gets rave reviews, so I am wondering if I should try her post-pregnancy dvd.  I don't really like working out in my living room, but people swear by her so I'm willing to try. Has anyone done it?

Yum Yums

Beaba Babycook
Beaba Babycook

For Christmas my mom bought me the Beaba Babycook and needless to say I am in love with it!  I always knew that I wanted to make Baby J's food myself, but had no idea it would be so easy. It cooks veggies perfectly, keeping the nutrients in the puree.

Beaba first spoons
First Stage Spoons
Baby J loves chomping on the spoons!  Love the colors!

Multi-portions Storage
I am such a fan of these. I fill 'em up and freeze them and then pop a portion out as I need. Doesn't get much easier than that!

Book Review: Martin's Big Words

Martin's Big Words
In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. I want to share one of my all time favorite children's books- the multi-award winning Martin's Big Words: The Life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by Doreen Rappaport. I always read this book to my students and it never failed to amaze me that even the most chatty of kids would quiet down to listen to the words. It is moving and inspirational and definitely thought provoking. I always loved the conversations we would have following the story. To really top it off, the illustrations are beautiful- and we all know that good pictures captivate kids (and adults). This book is a must-have for a family library. (If you want to earn extra stars- gift one to your favorite teacher!)

Something in the Water?

Molly Sims
It seems like baby is the new black. The darling Molly Sims announced this week that she is expecting- due at the end of June. I am super excited to see what she will be wearing throughout her pregnancy, and all her baby finds are sure to be fabulous. Check back for more Molly in the upcoming months!

Time to Make a Change!

Lula Changing Pad - Orange
Lula Changing Pad by Patemm

The Patemm changing pad is seriously one of the coolest things I own! It is a machine washable(!), round,  changing pad that folds up and can be carried on its own or in your diaper bag.  I love the size of it when opened and all the pockets where you can stash diapers, wipes, creams- just about anything- before folding it up. I use this everywhere I go, and always get compliments when I bring it out!!

New Year, New Beginnings!

Jungle Mobile
blabla jungle mobile

Welcome to Bambino by the Bay!  To kick things off, I thought I would start by sharing one of my favorite items in Baby J's nursery... His blabla Jungle Mobile! It is beyond cute and whimsical and he just adores looking at it while laying on his changing table.  I have quite a thing for mobiles, and this is definitely one of my favorites!
